Home Beautiful May 2024 Article featuring Order and Grace, Elanora Heights Project
Nestled high on a hill overlooking Narrabeen in Sydney’s Northern Beaches this 5 bedroom home was in need of a complete renovation. Order & Grace was engaged to oversee the home’s transformation, which included rejigging the floor plan to create a more functional flow, maximising the natural light and bringing the outdoors in. Our aim for the client was to create an instant sense of tranquility as they stepped through their front gate, a place where they could relax and entertain in serene surroundings.
Pivotal to this is the open-plan living, dining and kitchen space at the rear of the house, which extends out to a generous verandah with an outdoor kitchen and stone fireplace for year-round relaxation. Clever joinery in the living room makes the most of a large blank wall. We decided to break it down into sections – a space for a large eye-catching artwork, an internal fireplace and some joinery to hold personal treasures and decor pieces to create that sense of ‘home’.
Similarly, the kitchen hits all the right notes for the couple, who wanted something wow yet understated given the space is visible as soon as you walk through the front door. A softly curved island bench topped with it grey veined tones brings beautiful contrast to the white cabinetry. The simple yet elegant pendants complement without dominating the space, and a butler’s pantry ensures the main kitchen stays clutter-free.
We created a home that feels incredibly bright and airy, thanks to the addition of large feature windows, skylights and large glass doors.
Crisp white walls enhance this effect and provide a neutral backdrop for the artworks, furnishings and accessories. Keeping it simple and elegant in order to provide a sense of calm. Coastal living embraces the concept of fluidity and openness, so the key was to not over complicate, maintaining a pared back eye throughout.
We incorporated natural materials such as limestone external paving, timber floors and stone benchtops – along with VJ panels, fluted joinery and linens to add to the contemporary coastal vibe our clients were wanting.
Building upon the triumph of Phase I, where the clients reveled in the transformation of their living spaces, Phase II of this project was an ambitious endeavour. Envisioning a home that would make the most of its breathtaking views and skyline we collaborated with the clients and crafted a design that would redefine the property's allure.
The first step was to raise the roof's pitch, creating a dramatic entrance and providing stunning views. To enhance the sense of spaciousness and connection with the outdoors, the ceiling height in the kitchen was raised, complemented by introducing a striking feature window. Skylights were strategically placed to flood the interiors with natural light.
A key feature of the renovation was the addition of a new floor, dedicated to a serene yoga room. A walk-in wardrobe, and elegant ensuite, designed and created by Order & Grace, essential for a property of this standing. In addition, the exterior facade was revamped, ensuring that the home's beauty was not just confined to its interiors.
With meticulous attention to detail, including the selection of stunning furniture, custom joinery and soft furnishings, this home underwent a complete transformation, both inside and out, achieving a harmonious blend of elegance and functionality for the family to enjoy.
Located in stunning Balgowlah Heights, this charming harbourside family home beckoned for a rejuvenating touch. Thus, we embarked on a comprehensive journey, breathing new life into the family rumpus room, children's bedrooms, master bathroom, and a gentleman's study, marking the completion of Phase I.

Inspired by the beautiful terracotta-textured facade, we aimed to create an interior that was timeless and cohesive, with a natural flow from the outside in. The design is both relaxed and inviting, yet exudes a sense of sophistication and warmth.
Given the apartment's compact size and luxurious finishes, each piece was selected for its beauty, craftsmanship, and ability to enhance the space. The stunning limestone flooring throughout the living area required thoughtful layering of textures and warmth to achieve a bespoke feel—one that offers the comfort of home rather than the sterility of a hotel room.
To complete the design, we incorporated throws, accessories, and artwork, each carefully chosen to bring the space together and create a harmonious, welcoming environment for our clients to enjoy!
In its original condition, this 1970s brick home, located on the mid North Coast was in desperate need of a complete transformation, the existing owner having lived there for over 60 years! Our repeat client had a vision for a fresh, vibrant family holiday house that could also be used for holiday letting.
To achieve this, we revamped the internal floorplan, particularly focusing on opening up the kitchen/dining/living area to embrace 21st century living while maximising natural light and ocean views. Our concept blended modern freshness with a nod to its mid-century heritage, incorporating lively pops of colour throughout.
The kitchen received a jolt of drama with its Laminex scalloped surround in a rich deep hue and became a focal point at the centre of the home. The original bathrooms were transformed with timeless finishes including beautiful Terrazzo flooring and white feature tiles with brass elements to elevate the space. In addition, we specified external finishes for the exterior facade in order to enhance the home’s kerbside appeal.
Order & Grace also selected and specified all furniture to suit the budget and application, soft furnishings and accessories, as well as designing custom joinery throughout, bringing this home back to life for another generation to enjoy and create wonderful holiday memories!
A repeat client commissioned Order & Grace to reimagine the layout of their upper floor, with a focus on adding a new ensuite, study, and repositioning their daughter's bedroom. The ensuite design aimed for a bright, airy space with a 'his and hers' vanity. Carrara hexagon mosaics were chosen for the floor, paired with exquisite handmade Italian subway tiles for the walls, adding texture and visual allure. A custom vanity provided ample storage, while underfloor heating and heated towel rails added a luxurious touch for year-round comfort.
The daughter's bedroom design drew inspiration from her love of aqua and purple. Custom joinery was crafted to integrate a wardrobe, shelving, and desk, tailored to her specific needs and style.
On the ground floor, Order & Grace relocated the dining room from the rear to the front of the house, resulting in a more functional floor plan. This change allowed the lounge room to open up into a grandiose space, enhancing the overall flow and feel of the home. To complement these changes, soft furnishings and accessories were carefully curated for the living area, creating a cohesive and inviting aesthetic.
